About Ad permissions

Your organization's users get their ad permissions from the roles that they're assigned in your organization settings. Changing a user's roles changes how they can interact with your ads on the Shopify App Store.

There are three permissions related to Shopify App Store ads:

  • View financials: Open the Partner billing page in your organization settings to see Partner Ads bills. This permission also allows the user to view payout information in your organization settings.
  • View app ads: View the ad reporting dashboard.
  • Manage app ads: Create and make changes to Shopify App Store ads.

To redeem an ad credit, a user needs both View financials and Manage app ads. Adding a payment method or invoice notes also needs Manage financials.

For more information about roles and permissions, refer to User permissions, and to Partner organization permissions in the Shopify Help Center.

  2. Click the user whose permissions you want to update.
  3. In Roles and groups, assign a role that includes the ad permissions that you want the user to have.

To remove a user's ad permissions, open the user in Organization settings > Users, remove the role that grants them in Roles and groups, and then click Save.

You can also edit the role itself in Users > Roles to remove the ad permissions. Editing a role changes the permissions of every user who's assigned to it.
