scalar

The code for a subdivision (such as a province or state) of a country/region: the country-scoped part of an ISO 3166-2 code, without the country prefix. For example, BC designates British Columbia when the country is CA (ISO 3166-2 CA-BC), and 01 designates Hokkaido when the country is JP (ISO 3166-2 JP-01). A subdivision code is only meaningful together with the country that scopes it.
